TuscParks is partnering with Yellowbrick on 39 to host the 5K “Follow the Flock” Trail Run-Walk on May 27, 2024.  The 9:30am race will take place at the Norma Johnson Center with all proceeds going towards supporting the TuscParks trail systems in the county.  The second annual 5K at the Norma Johnson Center will be held on Memorial Day.  “The name of the race is “Follow the Flock” to incorporate Norma’s love and passion for sheep and their wool.  We love the fact that the 5K is throughout the trails of the NJC and is a tough course. But walkers, as well as runners, are encouraged to partake.” says Marsha Freeland, TuscParks Education Manager.   The co-host of the event, Yellowbrick on 39, will be having a market open to the public with food trucks, craft vendors and music for the community from 10am to 5pm after the race. Local musician Josh Compton, hails from Tuscarawas County and writes folk songs that share the struggles and triumphs of some of the region’s earliest settlers.  “The Big Trail and other Ballads of the Tuscarawas”, is his latest creation that has been a decade in the making.  He will be providing music after the race to kick off the markets events.

Registration for adults ($40) and children ($30) 12 and under will be open up to race time. T-shirts will be available while supplies last.  Awards will be presented after the race, along with a $5 vendor voucher and door prize drawing entry.  Registrations can be made online by going to https://runsignup.com/njc5k2024.  Mail in registrations are also accepted.  Checks should be payable to “Tuscarawas County” and mailed to the attention of the Park Department at 125 East High Avenue New Philadelphia, OH  44663.  All entry fees are non-refundable.  Race check in and race day registration will be open the day of the race on the stage at Yellowbrick on 39 from 8-9:15AM.  Race time will start at 9:30AM in the front yard of the Norma Johnson Center.

Norma Johnson Center and Yellowbrick on 39 is located on SR 39 three miles west of I-77 Dover Exit 83 and six miles east of Sugarcreek.  Parking and registration for this event will be at 3931 SR 39, Dover, OH.  Questions about the event can be answered by calling the TuscParks office, at 330.365.3278, Monday through Friday 8-4:30 or visit the TuscParks Facebook page for more information.
