Adopt-A-Trail program for the Ohio & Erie Canalway Towpath Trail
Event by Towpath Trail Peace Park and Joe Rinehart
McDonnell Trailhead, Bolivar, OH.
Aug 29 from 10 AM- 12 PM
We participate with the ODOT Adopt-A-Highway program for a section of the Ohio-Erie Canalway Scenic Byway Rt 212 Bolivar from the 1 Mile Marker(mm) near the Canal Bend Trailhead to the 4 mm beside the new Dollar General store.
At the McDonnell trailhead, we also participate in the Adopt-A-Trail program for the Ohio & Erie Canalway Towpath Trail on the Tuscarawas county line. We trek the trail through to the Fort Laurens trailhead.
Both clean-ups take place the last Saturday bimonthly after a brief safety introduction and liability waivers are signed. Our Adopt-A-Highway Rt 212 Hike takes place immediately after the 10 AM McDonnell Trailhead Cleanup safety class and is limited to adults over 18 due to the highway traffic. Minors under 18 are welcome with parental supervision at the McDonnell Trailhead Towpath Trail cleanup.
Please bring gloves and any tools that may help. Long-sleeved shirts are recommended. We’ll provide water & trash bags.
