Program about Mooney Warther
Program about Mooney Warther at Dover Library
Local storyteller Chris Hart will portray Fred Warther, the older brother of Ernest “Mooney” Warther, on Tuesday, December 16 at 6:30 PM in the community room at the Dover Public Library, located at 525 N. Walnut. The program will highlight the adventures shared by the Warther siblings and tell the stories behind Mooney’s greatest works.
History indicates that when 5-year old Mooney found a rusty penknife in a country road, he grabbed a stick and began to whittle. He would never stop. Ernest “Mooney” Warther would become a carving genius. His model trains and other carvings are known worldwide.
“Over the years, we have seen Chris bring many characters to life,” says Sherrel Rieger, adult programming specialist. “We are honored to host Chris Hart for this debut performance of “Mooney”.
Hart has made a successful career out of portraying famous characters in history. He has personally researched and written scripts for more than 60 characters. He has not only performed many times locally, but he has also performed at the National Storytellers Conference in Jonesborough, Tennessee and for the National Park Service. On the days he is not performing, Hart is employed as a college professor at seven universities and a guest lecturer at two others. He and his wife Susie live in Newcomerstown.
This program will be held on Tuesday, December 13 at 6:30 PM at the Dover Public Library, located at 525 N. Walnut Street. To register, visit www.doverlibrary.org/events or call the library at 330-343-6123.
